Demographics- Shuford Elementary serves students in the Conover area having over 550 students enrolled in grades K through 5th grade.  57% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch.  The school is comprised of 52% Caucasian, 10% Afro-American, 25% Hispanic  and 6.5% multiracial. 18 % of students are identified as English as a Second Language.

Program Offerings- Teachers at Shuford deliver the NC Common Core and Essential Standards through numerous academic programs including: Math Expressions K-5, Accelerated Reader K-5, Inquiry-based science kits K-5, and THRIVE groups. Teachers utilize instructional guides to ensure proper coverage of content as they incorporate Guided Reading. Students have the opportunity to participate in competitions such as Science Olympiad, Battle of the Books, Spelling Bee, and Math Expo. Staff members participate in structured Professional Learning Community meetings which are facilitated by our Instructional Coach.
