Ever since the fourth grade, attending the Newton-Conover City School District had a beneficial impact on my school career.  This district has done a terrific job of preparing any student to deal with the adversities that he or she will experience in college. For instance, one benefit of our district is that we have a great diversity on our campus. Diversity enables people from different backgrounds to be more tolerant and open-minded of each other. As a result, this "great diversity" enables different groups of people to collaborate and work together to achieve their goals. From my prior knowledge, collaboration is one major skill that is needed to be successful in college. Also, this district provides many clubs and extracurricular activities in order for the students to stay active. Colleges highly recommend students to be well-rounded not only in their academics but also in extracurricular activities or in sports. This is one of the main reasons why I joined clubs that include: Beta Club, Science Olympiad, Mu-Alpha Theta, Student Improvement Team, and Tri-M Music Honor Society.

I have gone to public school since kindergarten, and I feel that the diverse group of people, activities, and clubs it has made available to me has prepared me very well for working with the variety of people I know I will come into contact with in my future. I also think that the academic preparation I've received through taking Honors and AP classes has been excellent and will help me perform to my maximum potential in college. I plan on going on to graduate school to become an occupational therapist, and I know that my choice to attend public school has given me the foundation I need to achieve my career goals.
